Margaret's Garden Journal for December 2009

Outside in my very neglected garden the mahonia cheers even in the greyness of mist and rain. I wish I could remember the variety. I had wanted Charity which is a very architectural plant with a single stem. However this one will suit my purpose so long as I cut it back every so often. Last year it flowered after Christmas but I am glad it started flowering in November. I hope it does so every year.

Christmas Preparations

This year in deference to my daughter's taste, I went out and bought a Christmas Tree.

As is now traditional, my grand daughters and great grand daughters decorated it and put up the lights. Apart from the lights and baubles on the Christmas Tree most of the decorations consist of prunings from the conifers in the back garden
