Margaret's Garden Journal for October 2009

The Michaelmass daisies come into flower and the back garden moves on to a new colour scheme
The big job this month was lopping the eucalyptus tree. The main trunk had split into three branches about four feet from ground level. Two branches grew more or less vertically but the third leaned over the lawn and was nearly touching the conservatory, so with great reluctance I decided it had better come off so got Chris to bring his chain saw. The tree looks taller and a completely different shape now.
Early in the monthI planted out a few bulbs, did some weeding and transplanted foxgloves, aqualegia and forget-me-nots. Getting up and down from kneeling position so often damaged my leg again , just as I thought i was beginning to walk normally, so I am relying on Chris to do all my digging when I plant the tulips. Most frustrating.
