Margaret's Garden Journal for March 2007

stump of pampas grass
The big job this month has been cutting down the pampas grass in the centre of the garden. Although I loved having it there during the winter, it hid too much of the garden for the rest of the year. I asked Chris to use his big petrol driven hedge trimmer on it and in the picture above you can see how far he got. The rest of it, he says, needs a chain saw, which we haven't got. I think I will cover it with mulching material and place container plants on it and then see if, by next winter, it has rotted down enough to dig in.
To do this month
1. Feed roses
2. Feed veg
3. Plant potatoes
4. Hoe
5.Support plants where necesary
6.Divide snowdrops
7. Sow most seeds

Later Comments
