7th November

I returned home from Tunisia after midnight. Woke this morning expecting a mass of blackened foliage and dead flowers but to my surprise the dahlias were still green and in flower. The yellow dahlias had stood heavy rain well but some others looked distinctly soggy and badly needed dead-heading.

13th November

Heavy frosts are forecast for tonight so I went round the garden snapping colour

Winter has come. The garden is blackened

20th November

Even the hardy daphne in the front garden is looking sorry for itself, the leaves have browned slightly although giving clues as to what colour they should have been

30th November

Despite the second half of November being much colder than last year the birches and oaks in the countryside still retain golden autumnal foliage
