April Viewpoint
Sometime before the middle of April my son asked me what flowers could be relied on to bloom in the middle of May. As I went through my list I realised that all the flowers I was naming were already in bloom and some could well be over by the time he wanted them. If you look back at the archives you will see that I have always insisted that May is the time for forget-me-nots but they were already in bloom when my son phoned as were the late tulips.
Did you look at the March entry and see all those frogs? That resulted in a pond covered in frog spawn. Not one blob of all that spawn developed into tadpoles. I would like to see some research done on this as I have a theory that too many frogs in a pond create their own abortifacients.
On the other hand I have a plethora of newts as well, and two very fat goldfish so perhaps the spawn was all eaten.
I didn't get the greenhouse reglazed until the middle of this month. My tomatoes went into the soil a week later - the usual Gardeners' Delight and Sungold although I have sown Golden Sunset but I have given away all but three plants.)
I thought I would empty the tables in the conservatory once the greenhouse was back in use but after repotting I have both the greenhouse and conservatory full, so the older of my two computers still sulks behind the freezer waiting for me to clear some space.
