Once again the weather for the time of the year was warm but overcast and again extremely windy. The corkscrew willow, the variegated buddleia and Clematis Montana "Elizabeth" which usually hide the tough brickwork of next door's garage lay on the floor most of the month.
The daffs were so bowed down one could not see the flowers. Gardening was no pleasure - and then - my middle son and my daughter-in-law arrived from Ireland at 7 a.m. in the morning.
By 11 a.m. we had booked a twelve day holiday in Tenerife starting the next day. A blissful break which we spent mostly on the beach and in the sea with the temperature soaring to 38C
We returned home late on the 26th so that I was home in time to plant my early potatoes on Good Friday!
As soon as we arrived home we had four beautiful sunny warm days interspersed by four nights of sharp frost.
The forsythia is in full bloom, the earlier daffs are almost over,
and the tulips are well on the way.
