The Sunny Bit of August

Giant Montbretia. A member of the crocosmia family but I am not sure of its real name.

Lucifer, another member of the crocosmia family

At the beginning of the month the orange crocosmia that resembles a giant montbretia dominates the garden. It has all the bad habits of its miniature cousin and clashes with the pinks and blues that make up so much of the rest of the garen but I forgive for the sake of its stately leaves and its flower power. All the same I am going to buy more of the better behaved crocosmia such as Lucifer and a shorter yellow one with red markings even if they are not quite so hardy.

In the middle of the month two grandchildren came to help in the garden for the day. Amongst other things they did they put together two arches I had bought

Here they are with only another eighteen inches to add on
