September 1999This is the dahlia that has done best so far. It is not especially tall but it has provided plenty of colour. |

The first few days of September were extremely warm here in Leicester. The front garden, with roses defoliated by blackspot, looked awful. The back garden however was both restful and colourful. Unfortunately my low resolution digital camera is better at showing close ups than overall pictures.

The beans at last are coming into their own but I am unhappy with their quality. Next year I must remember to plant Enorma. I think this lot were Scarlet Emperor.

The weather was so wonderful I took myself away on holiday for a bit. Just as well I did because when |I came back it rained and rained and rained. It was windy as well. However it cleared up and became warmer . Michaelmas daisies and Chrysanthemums joined the dalias to enliven the end of the month.
