February 1999
February has lived up to its name of Filldyke. Even the leaking pond has remained full.
Hellebores continue in colour but I worry because the clematis is sending out shoots too soon.
Towards the middle of the month the earliest daffs put in an appearance
Throughout the month snow drops dominated the garden. Unfortunately my digital camera is not the ideal tool for taking vistas so I cannot show borders full of them. Other notes There was a shortage of seed potatoes this year. Tubers at Ryton on Potato Day had gone up from 10p to 14p. No Linzer Delicatesse to be had and Pink Fir Apple was sold out within half an hour . The brussels have lasted all month. The leeks are only just ready. By the end of the month Purple sprouting broc has started.
