Southern Goa February 2008 - Dudhsagar WaterFalls

The waterfall was an hour's coach trip from our camp at Bondli to a busy dusty town, Molem, where we had to to wait for an available jeep to take us a fourteen kilometre bumpy ride through magnificent wooded scenery to the far south eastern corner of the huge Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary. We had to pay extra to take cameras into the park. The jeep unloaded us at at a point where we could see the waterfall tumbling down the side of the Western Ghats.
waterfall This is what the waterfall looked like in the second half of the dry season. It is, I was told, considerably more impressive in the wet season Even so the fall at the base, hidden in this picture, was quite impressive.
We walked for a kilometre or so down hill over slippery rocks and swaying bridges to reach the bottom of the falls where we found a huge pool with emerald tinged water, where we went swimming. I gave myself a shower under the less fierce cascade, After my swim I dried off on a warm rock, glad that I had brought my full strength sun cream with me.
