Regina's Balcony
I live in a small but light and airy apartment. Yellow-bellied bananaquits and hummingbirds roister on my balcony, which they visit for reward - to drink sugar-laced water which every day, come rain or sun, I set out for them, Their happiness is my reward.
A place of constant change, that's my balcony! Once in a while one of my turtles risks leaving the tank of water inside the apartment and ventures to sun-bathe on top of a brick while observing the colourful and perfumed festival of orchids, azaleas, begonias and poinsettias which lasts the whole year because I live in a tropical climate.
From the balcony I have another poetic view of a portion of the sea . Sometimes, I see boats, ships and several vessels passing, and observe, enchanted, the changing state of the water, the clear blue-green of a sunny day, the profound gray of a rainy day and the shaken herds of rams that appear in wind storms. Although I have all that festival of Nature within my view, when I go out, I find immediately two theatres, a movie theatre, some restaurants and an enormous giant of a supermarket that does not dare disturb the shaken chirp of my small visitors. It is what I like most, this peaceful company amid the contrasting environment.
Back Regina has made an amazing web piece centred on her balcony called
"Alice in the WonderBalcony"
