Margaret's Garden Journal for April 2010

camelia

Part of my front garden

After the harshest and longest winter for a long time, late and early daffs came at the the same time and only lasted a short time in the glorious warm spells ai the earlier half of the month. The pears and plums blossomed well and the bees visited them frequently. I planted up six potato bags (Arron Pilot, Swift, Accord, Charlotte, Pink Fir Apple, Lindsey Delicatesse)
Far fewer but much happier frogs this year and tadpoles emerged from the two clumps of spawn.
I saw at least six varieties of butterflies and oodles of bumble bees.
Magnolias, and camelias have looked magnificent everywhere
It turned cold and windy again towards the end of the month which helped the tulips which had come early to last well.
