Margaret's Garden Journal for February 2011

We cut down the densely foliaged conifer that hid the light from the Beauty Pine

Before 02.02.2011

After 26.02.2011

The hiding place where I sling my hammock is no more but I can now view my snowdrops from the conservatory.
The shreddings from the felled conifer covered a goodly percentage of the paths in the vegetable area. Despite the earlier and even colder start of this winter, plants are more advanced this February. The earliest daffodils were open in the middle of the month and by the third week we had forsythia in flower
Viburnum bodiensis Dawn, whose flowers were turned to brown mush by 15°frost in December flowered again scenting the garden with vanilla.
